In order to function in an effective classroom atmosphere, it is essential to have a good discipline plan. I have designed a plan for use in our classroom. The following is a list of our classroom/school rules and consequences.
Our classroom/school rules are as follows:
THE HUSKY
HABITS
Be Repectful
Be Responsible
Be Safe
Be Excellent
In our classroom, we use a ticket system. Each child receives 2 tickets in the beginning of the school day. The student keeps both tickets for exhibiting appropriate behavior by following the HUSKY HABITS listed above. In the event that a student breaks a rule, they will give up one of their tickets.
2 tickets left at the end of the day =What a great day you had today! Congratulations! 2 stickers on a sticker chart.
1 ticket left at the end of the day = Disruptive and/or challenging behavior, loss of privileges, “time out”. HUSKY HELPER note may be sent home. 1 sticker on a sticker chart.
0 tickets left at the end of the day = Defiant behavior, child did not improve. HUSKY HELPER note will be sent home. In some cases parent will be called. Loss of privileges including free choice and recess for the day, “time
out”. Child may be asked to write/draw with the teacher an incident report. In severe incidences, the Principal/Assistant Principal will be asked to intervene.
If a pattern of 1 or 0 tickets left at the end of the school day is noted, a conference may be scheduled.
The child may be asked to stay after school to complete work when continually off task.
Good behavior will also be recognized. Acceptable rewards include:
stickers, extra recess, “good” notes home, handshakes and high –
fives…..etc. When the sticker chart is full, the student makes a trip to the treasure box for a reward!
